Construction Standards for Oil and Gas Pipeline Construction Projects
There are many construction standards for oil and gas pipeline construction projects. The following are some common international and domestic standards:
International construction standards
ASME B31 series
ASME B31.4: Standard for liquid hydrocarbon and other liquid pipeline transportation systems, which specifies the design, materials, construction, inspection and testing of pipelines in detail, including pipeline pressure design, temperature limits, stress analysis and other contents.
ASME B31.8: Standard for natural gas transmission and distribution pipeline systems, which covers the full process requirements of pipeline systems from design to operation and maintenance, with special emphasis on the integrity management and safety control of pipeline systems.
ISO related standards
ISO 15649: Welding process and welder assessment standards for pipelines in the oil and gas industry, which stipulates the process requirements for pipeline welding, welder qualification certification and other contents to ensure that the welding quality meets the safety requirements of oil and gas pipelines.
ISO 21809: Subsea pipeline system standards for the oil and gas industry, which stipulates the design, installation, connection and other aspects of pipelines in view of the special environment and construction requirements of submarine pipelines.
EN Standards
EN 10217: Standard for welded steel pipes for pressure, which specifies the technical requirements for different types of welded steel pipes, including dimensions, tolerances, mechanical properties, etc., and provides a basis for the material selection and construction of oil and gas pipelines.
EN 13480: Standard for metal industrial pipelines, which regulates the design, manufacture, installation and inspection of pipelines, and is widely used in the construction of oil and gas pipelines in Europe.
DNV Standards
DNV-OS-F101: Standard for submarine pipeline systems, which provides detailed technical requirements and specifications for the design, material selection, manufacture, installation and inspection of submarine pipelines, and takes into account the particularity of the submarine environment, such as the effects of seawater corrosion, marine biological attachment, and current impact on pipelines.
DNV-OS-C401: Corrosion protection standard for offshore structures, which gives specific technical indicators and construction requirements for anti-corrosion coatings and cathodic protection of offshore oil and gas pipelines, ensuring that pipelines have good anti-corrosion performance in harsh marine environments.
API Standards
API RP 1104: Pipeline welding standards, which comprehensively regulates the process, welder qualifications, and weld quality control of pipeline welding, is an important basis for the welding construction of oil and gas pipelines, helping to ensure welding quality and reduce welding defects and safety hazards.
API 570: Pipeline inspection specifications, applicable to the inspection, maintenance, modification and renewal of operating oil and gas pipeline systems, provides technical guidance for regular inspection and maintenance of pipelines to ensure the safe operation of pipelines.
China Construction Standards
GB 50369-2014 "Oil and Gas Long-distance Pipeline Engineering Construction and Acceptance Specifications"
Detailed regulations are made for each construction link of oil and gas long-distance pipeline projects, including construction preparation, trench excavation, pipeline group welding, anti-corrosion patching, pipeline trenching and backfilling, and station installation. It is an important basis for domestic oil and gas long-distance pipeline construction.
GB 50540-2009 "Construction Specifications for Process Pipeline Engineering in Oil and Gas Stations" - Specific technical requirements and acceptance standards are proposed for the construction of process pipelines in oil and gas stations, including pipeline installation, welding, non-destructive testing, anti-corrosion and thermal insulation.
SY/T 4103-2015 "Welding and Acceptance of Steel Pipelines" - It stipulates the requirements for process assessment, welder qualifications, welding operations, weld inspection, etc. for steel pipeline welding, and is a key standard to ensure the quality of pipeline welding.
SY/T 0413-2002 "Technical Standards for Polyethylene Anticorrosion Layers for Buried Steel Pipelines" - The materials, construction processes, quality inspections, etc. of polyethylene anticorrosion layers for buried steel pipelines are standardized to improve the anti-corrosion performance of pipelines and extend the service life of pipelines.
GB 50253-2014 "Oil Pipeline Engineering Design Specification" - Specifies the basic requirements for the design of oil pipeline engineering, including pipeline process design, station layout, pipeline material selection and other aspects. Construction should be based on this to ensure that the design and construction of oil pipelines meet the principles of safety, economy and reliability.
SY/T 0420-2019 "Petroleum and Natural Gas Station Process Pipeline Engineering Construction Quality Acceptance Specification" - Detailed provisions for the construction quality acceptance of process pipeline engineering in oil and gas stations, including pipeline installation, welding, non-destructive testing, anti-corrosion and thermal insulation, etc., provide a basis for ensuring the construction quality of process pipelines in stations.
SY/T 0470-2014 "Technical Standard for Polyethylene Anticorrosion Layer of Petroleum and Natural Gas Steel Pipelines" - For the polyethylene anticorrosion layer of petroleum and natural gas steel pipelines, specific requirements are put forward for the material properties, construction process, quality inspection and other aspects of the anticorrosion layer to improve the anti-corrosion performance of the pipeline and extend the service life of the pipeline.
SY/T 0320-2013 "Technical Specifications for Cathodic Protection of the Bottom and External Wall of Steel Storage Tanks"
For the cathodic protection construction of the outer wall of the bottom of steel storage tanks in oil and gas storage facilities, it provides specifications for the design, installation, commissioning and operation and maintenance of the cathodic protection system to ensure that the cathodic protection system can effectively protect the outer wall of the bottom of the tank and prevent corrosion.
