Introduction to the production process of SSAW steel pipe

SSAW Steel Pipe, that is, spiral seam submerged arc welded steel pipe, its production process mainly includes the following steps:

The production process of SSAW steel pipe is as follows:

1. Raw material preparation: The strip steel coil is used as the main raw material, and auxiliary materials such as welding wire and flux are prepared at the same time.

2. Strip steel processing

Leveling: The strip steel is leveled by the leveling machine to eliminate the defects such as wavy and curved strip steel produced during the rolling process, so that the surface of the strip steel is flat, providing a good foundation for subsequent processing.

Edge trimming: The uneven part of the strip steel edge is trimmed by the edge trimming machine to ensure that the strip steel width meets the production requirements, and at the same time make the strip steel edge smooth to avoid problems during the forming process.

Edge planing: The strip steel edge is planed to produce a suitable groove shape and size to facilitate subsequent welding operations and ensure the quality of the weld.

Surface cleaning and transportation: Cleaning equipment is used to remove impurities such as oil, rust, dust, etc. on the surface of the strip steel to prevent these impurities from entering the weld and affecting the welding quality. The cleaned strip steel is transported to the next process through a conveying device.

Pre-bending: Use pre-bending equipment to pre-bend the edge of the strip steel so that the edge of the strip steel has a certain curvature, in preparation for subsequent spiral forming.

3. Spiral forming: The processed strip steel is fed into the spiral forming machine. Under the action of the forming machine, the strip steel is continuously bent and formed according to a certain spiral angle to form a tube. During the forming process, the pipe diameter, misalignment and weld gap are strictly controlled by the weld gap control device to ensure that they meet the welding requirements.

4. Welding

Strip head and tail butt: The head and tail between the strip steel coils need to be butt-jointed, and single-wire or double-wire submerged arc welding is used to form a continuous strip steel.

Spiral seam welding: After the strip steel is rolled into a steel pipe, the spiral seam is welded using an automatic double-wire double-sided submerged arc welding process, so that the spiral weld of the steel pipe has higher strength and quality.

5. Weld inspection

Online ultrasonic inspection: The welded welds are all inspected by an online continuous ultrasonic automatic flaw detector to ensure the non-destructive testing coverage of the spiral welds. If there are defects, the alarm will be automatically sounded and the mark will be sprayed. The production workers will adjust the process parameters at any time accordingly to eliminate the defects in time.

Review: For the parts with continuous ultrasonic flaw detection marks on the weld, manual ultrasonic and X-ray review is required. If there are defects, they will be repaired and then subjected to non-destructive testing again until it is confirmed that the defects have been eliminated.

6. Cutting: Cut the continuous spiral welded pipe into single steel pipes according to the specified length.

7. First inspection: The first three pipes of each batch of steel pipes must undergo a strict first inspection system to check the mechanical properties, chemical composition, fusion status, surface quality of the welds, and non-destructive testing to ensure that the pipe making process is qualified before it can be officially put into production.

8. Subsequent processing

Hydraulic pressure test: Conduct a hydraulic pressure test on the steel pipe to test the strength and sealing of the steel pipe to ensure that the steel pipe can withstand the specified pressure.

Chamfering: Process the pipe ends of the steel pipes that have passed the inspection to pour out the required groove size to facilitate the connection and installation of the steel pipes.

Anti-corrosion and coating: According to user requirements, the steel pipe is treated with anti-corrosion and coating, such as spraying anti-corrosion paint, epoxy powder coating, etc., to improve the corrosion resistance and service life of the steel pipe.

The production process of SSAW steel pipe is a complex and delicate process involving multiple links and multiple technologies. Each link is crucial to ensure the quality and performance of the final product.
